Primary vapor barriers for cold insulation
Preventing the ingress of water and water vapor is paramount to a well-designed cold insulation system. If moisture or water vapor is allowed to enter a cold insulation system, it will freeze and mechanically destroy the insulant itself.
The large vapor pressure acting on a cold insulation system requires a flawless vapor barrier that is easy to install.
INSU-W-RAPID BV has been the pioneer in this field. Our IWR701® range of butyl based vapor barriers was introduced in 1999 and ended an era of vapor barrier coatings that were difficult to install and had a limited shelf life.
Membrane XT is a bitumen-based primary vapor that complements our butyl range of vapor barriers, and is predominantly installed on cellular glass.
