Energy can be transferred by means of vibration. Vibrations can be transferred into air causing noise pollution. The reduction of vibration by means of dampening the system, and hence reducing noise, is possible when a spring-mass system is introduced. The spring is usually formed by means of a resilient insulation material.
The mass is added at the outer surface either by utilizing a heavy jacketing material or by means of adding an elastic heavy mass layer, such as our Phonisol series. Alternatively, mass can be added whilst also reducing the resonance of the sheet itself, by adhering it to the inside surface of the jacketing.
